ABOUT
Alyssa Boldischar is a artist, photographer, and designer based in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota in Art, Alyssa’s work is deeply rooted in storytelling, connection, and the natural world.
Her fine art photography has been featured in Capture Minnesota, Photographers Forum Magazine’s “Best of Photography” collections, and National Geographic online. She has exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Concordia University, University of Minnesota, Mall of America, and the Minnesota State Fair. Alyssa’s work has been profiled in the Star Tribune and spotlighted in a Minnesota television special on regional photographers. Her photography has also taken her across the United States and Canada as a travel photographer.
Inspired early on by her Grandma Joyce’s creativity and encouragement, Alyssa has been making art since childhood. In 2020, she launched Opal + Birch, a creative shop where she sells handmade pottery, jewelry, wearable art, and designs inspired by her photography and the natural world. Her images often find new life as textiles—yoga pants, scarves, and kimonos—blending fine art with functional design.
Alyssa is also the Co-Founder of Bald Eagle Lake Arts, a community-focused arts nonprofit organization that supports and celebrates local artists. She plays an active role as the Board of Directors Vice President and organizing the Bald Eagle Lake Art Crawl, an annual event that brings together artists and art lovers in her lakeside community.
Outside her studio work, Alyssa is the Director of Operations and Board Member at Canine Inspired Change (CIC), a nonprofit helping youth build confidence and connection through therapeutic work with dogs. She also volunteers at hospice facilities with her certified therapy dog, Filius.
In addition, Alyssa has collaborated with Free Arts Minnesota, working alongside celebrated photographer Wing Young Huie to guide children in transforming personal experiences into powerful photographic exhibitions.
In her free time, Alyssa enjoys throwing clay in her pottery studio, practicing yoga, rock hunting, and exploring new places with her camera. She lives with her husband Mike and their three beloved dogs—Filius, Albus, and June Carter—near the shores of Bald Eagle Lake.
